Stetson Wind Power Project reaches key milestone with Zero Recordable Injuries
Reed & Reed Wind Power Services crews recently celebrated the successful completion of turbine erection on the Stetson Wind Project in Danforth, Maine. This is a major milestone on yet another wind project for the company. Reed & Reed is the EPC contractor for this 57mw project being developed by First Wind of Newton, Massachusetts and includes 38 General Electric 1.5 mw wind turbines mounted on 80-meter towers.
Our new Manitowoc 16000 (440-ton) crawler crane, which is designed specifically for wind turbine erection, performed flawlessly on the project helping us to complete turbine erection safely and efficiently. Our crews also performed flawlessly by building the foundations, handling the components and erecting all 38 turbines without a recordable injury. Congratulations to the entire Reed & Reed Wind Power Services team.
The project is presently nearing completion and our team of qualified local subcontractors is one of the key reasons the project is being completed to such high standards for safety, quality and performance. Regulatory agencies have been closely monitoring our efforts for environmental compliance during construction and have given us kudos for our work.
Reed & Reed is working on other wind projects in northern New England in various capacities from providing preconstruction services to working as a turnkey contractor.

Reed & Reed selected for Kibby Wind Power Project
Reed & Reed has been selected by TransCanada to provide pre-construction services for the 132 megawatt (mw) Kibby Wind Power project in northern Franklin County, Maine. On March 5, 2008 Maine’s Land Use Regulation Commission approved the zoning change and preliminary development plan for TransCanada’s Kibby Wind Power project. Subject to final permits and approvals, construction of the project could begin in 2008.
Reed & Reed completed the Mars Hill Wind Farm in 2007 and is currently building Stetson Mountain Wind Farm (38 Turbines) in Danforth, Maine and Lempster Wind Farm (12 turbines) in New Hampshire. With the Kibby Wind Power project, Maine will have more than 225 mw of clean, renewable energy, enough to power more than 100,000 households. Reed & Reed is proud to have such a key role in all of these projects. |
