The Project Superintendent is responsible for the successful planning and completion of construction projects.
Position:
- The Project Superintendent reports to the Project Manager.
- This individual represents Reed & Reed as its on-site representative and supervisor.
- The Superintendent will work closely with the Project Manager in planning and executing work, following and maintaining the project schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the Owner’s on-site representative in following contract procedures and plans.
- Oversee all self perform and subcontractor work.
- Coordinate Reed & Reed’s contract responsibilities regarding QA/QC testing and documentation
- Oversee documentation including daily logs, extra work documents, time sheets, material packing slips, safety reports, test data, etc.
- Represent Reed & Reed, Inc. at various jobsite meetings, supervision of subcontractors and coordination with utilities.
- Maintain project quality standards.
- Work with Project Manager to assign company equipment to project and to make decisions regarding rental of outside equipment.
- Work with Safety Director and Project Manager to deliver and implement project safety plan.
Skills Required
- Bridge and/or wind farm energy project experience.
- High School diploma or GED or equivalent with 10-15 years of progressive experience and 5+ years experience as a construction supervisor.
- Review drawings and specifications for constructability.
- In depth knowledge of OSHA construction safety requirements.
- Skilled at interacting with self-perform teams, subcontractors, and engineers.
- Possess problem solving skills and a strong work ethic.
- Basic computer skills, including ability to process payroll, send & receive email, etc.
- Willingness to travel as necessary.

Transfer from one task to another task under the general supervision of a skilled construction worker. Activities include, but are not limited to: laboring, carpentry, form carpentry, drilling, working with iron (steel), welding, cutting steel, placement and fastening, form placement, tying off, rebar, guardrail/fencing, curbing, traffic control, grading, concrete work, piledriving, crane operations, barge hand, site safety provisions and rail building, equipment maintenance, removing/clearing of materials, site clean-up and general housekeeping. |

Description: |

Builds and erects, if necessary, rough wooden structures such as concrete forms, to include steel forms, scaffold, railings, walkways, supports and temporary frame shelters according to sketches or oral instructions in a safe manner. Examines specifications to determine dimensions of structures. Measure materials using square, measuring tape and ruler and marks cutting lines on materials using pencil and scriber, saws boards, dimension wood and plywood panels to required sizes. Nails appropriate bracing across panels to construct concrete forms. Braces forms in place with timbers, tie rods and anchor bolts, for use in building concrete piers, footings and walls. Erect chutes for placing concrete. Cuts and assembles timbers to build trestles and cofferdams. Erects precast concrete components. Must have tools of the trade. |

The Foreman is responsible for managing a crew and for the successful completion of specific construction activities. The Foreman leads and establishes good relationships with all crew members, superintendents, and other field personnel. This individual’s role is to support the General Foreman or the Project Superintendent in the planning and execution of our labor and materials that go into the construction.
Qualifications and Essential Skills Professional- Experience supervising self-perform labor crews (carpentry, concrete forms, concrete placement, welding, pile driving, cofferdams, and heavy lifting)
Able to supervise a crew up to eight members
Good communication skills including the ability to manage and motivate a crew
Possess problem solving skills and a strong work ethic
Technical
- Read and understand drawings
Ability to read and write
Understand basics, logic, and sequencing of putting work in place
Exposed to all phases of self perform construction (carpentry, concrete forms, concrete placement, welding, pile driving, cofferdams, and heavy lifting)
Experienced in forming, placing, and finishing concrete
Experience in laying out work from given points
Experienced in the use of heavy construction equipment and methods
Basic knowledge of OSHA construction safety requirements
Certifications as a Qualified Signal Person and a Basic Qualified Rigger
Experience - Field construction experience in various construction methods and safety
High School diploma or GED equivalent with 3-5 years of progressive construction experience
Willingness to work with tools
Responsibilities
- Construction Administration
Plan work activities on a daily basis; able to look and plan ahead
Productively lead a crew to complete specific tasks
Lead by example regarding Company policies (e.g. be on site 15 minutes prior to start-up; set timeliness of breaks (lunch and coffee); and no unexcused absences)
Maintain neat, orderly work areas that are safe and secure
Personnel
- Supervise, work with, and motivate crew members
Explain and demonstrate procedures of work to employees
Materials
- Communicate material requirements to the Project Superintendent
Assist in receiving, inspecting and properly storing all site deliveries
Equipment
- Assist coordinating equipment maintenance and repairs on project
Help ensure that equipment is used properly and safely, and operated by qualified personnel
Safety
- Enforce job site safety with crew members
Work with General Foreman and Project Superintendent to communicate and implement the project safety plan
Fill out daily JSA forms and participate in communicating specific safety focus activities
Able to participate in or lead weekly safety meetings as required by the Project Superintendent
Must have a minimum of 3 yrs previous experience in a Foreman position with commercial construction experience. |
